Access in Summary
Transport
There are two bus stops located nearby on Vicarage Road, with buses stopping here at frequent times. There is a bus stop on the Hospital Site, near the Main Entrance. Buses stopping here transport patients and staff between Watford General, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans Hospital.
Car Park and Drop Off
There are two Main Car Parks within the Hospital Campus. One at the end of the site and one next to Accident and Emergency which has 20 accessible bays. There is an additional accessible Car Park and Short Stay Car Park located near the Spice of Life Restaurant. Additional accessible bays are provided near the Sexual Health Clinic. There are also drop off points near all the Main Entrances.
Access at Entrance
The Main Entrances to all departments have level access through automatic doors. The Main Entrance and Maternity Entrance have weather protection. There is good signage at each Entrance, which helps make it easier for visitors to find them.
Reception
The Main Reception is located on Level 2 and has a low alternative counter with good circulation in front of and around it. Seating is provided for visitors who need to rest.
Facilities
There are toilet facilities provided within the majority of departments along with accessible alternatives and baby changing facilities.
There is a large restaurant located on the campus that serves a variety of cuisine. It is a self service restaurant, although staff will assist and bring purchases to the table. There is a League of Friends tea shop near the Entrance of the Hospital Campus and in the Outpatients Reception area. Vending machines are also provided in the main department reception areas.
Access to All Areas
There is lift access or alternatively flights of stairs to all floors within the Hospital. These are well signed and easy to find.
