Transport
There are two bus stops located on Waverley Road which are within a reasonable walking distance of the Hospital. Buses on route numbers 300, 301, T5 S3 and S4 head towards Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Stevenage, Amersham and New Greens. There are shelters and seating provided at both stops.
Car Park and Drop Off
There are numerous car parks located close to all the main entrances and exits within the hospital. All of these car parks have ample accessible parking bays available for Blue Badge holders. Please note parking is free for visitors who hold Blue Badges only, a pay and display system is in place for visitors who do not. There are many drop off areas situated around the premises. These areas are located close to the Main Entrance, Day Surgery, Night Entrance and Runcie Wing.
Access at Entrance
All of the entrances leading into the St. Albans Hospital are clearly visible on approach and have adequate vision panels incorporated ensuring safe access into the building for all visitors. All of the entrance are wide enough to accommodate all users and many are automatically powered. Visitors should note there are separate male and female entrances into the Sexual Health Clinic, the male entrance is on the right and the female entrance is to the left.
Reception
The Outpatients Reception desk is situated in the Outpatients department which is located close to the Main Reception Lobby. Visitors and patients should report to this reception in order to be advised to where to wait and directed to the relevant location for their appointment. The Main Enquiries desk is located within the Main Reception Lobby. This desk is manned by WRVS volunteers who are able to assist visitors and patients in navigating the hospital site. Most of the clinic receptions are accessible to all users and offer seating should visitors need to rest.
Facilities
There are numerous toilet facilities located on each floor of the hospital including many accessible toilets. Plenty of seating has been provided within the premises some of which have armrests and are of a variety of different heights. Cafés and shops are also situated within the premises which serve a range of beverages.
Access to All Areas
To gain access to different floors there are lifts and stairs available. All of the lifts at the hospital are suitable for wheelchairs. Visitors should note that some of the lift controls are over one metre high and may not be accessible to all users.
